French for Fun

‘French for Fun’ is primarily a conversation group designed to improve our spoken French, though we are grateful to our two most fluent members who draw attention to our worst faults in grammar, syntax and pronunciation.

We meet in each other’s houses on the second and fourth Wednesday mornings of each month, and use a French Magazine called ‘Rendez-Vous’ (with an accompanying CD) to provide a springboard for discussions about France, its history and culture, its politics and current affairs, and about food and wine and holidays of course.

As well as the regular meetings, some of us also attend the monthly lecture of ‘Le cercle Francais’ in Winchester, and occasionally go to French films together, to watch DVDs. Le quatorze Juillet (Bastille day) and Christmas provide occasions for celebrating France and all things French by consuming delicious French food and good French wine. Vive la France!!
